New Marske Harriers has been organising road races for over 30 years. We have tried to always be ahead of the curve introducing new innovations whilst holding to the principle of providing races for club runners and providing value for money rather than being driven by the profit motive. Any profits are used to promote the sport of athletics and running within the borough of Redcar & Cleveland and supporting causes that enhance the environment for runners. Registered Charity Number 1168578

Please find attached details for Friday’s Cross Country.

We had no idea how many entries we would get and the aim was to be as flexible as possible – so the initial plan to have 4 or more separate races was not necessary and we now have just a single event starting at 12.30.

Please remember we are only just easing out of full lockdown, so please read the instructions carefully so you understand where you can park and the procedures we have in place.

The aim is that you will ARRIVE, RUN & LEAVE, as quickly as possible, with as little close contact with others as possible.

The attached includes links for the overall results. Although we are having a combined start, the results will be as per the event that you entered at EntryCentral.

I will also email you your individual chip times later in the day.

I will shortly be sending out requests for payment for those already on the waiting list.
The waiting list will remain in operation as it provides a means of checking club membership requirement.

Redcar Rugby Club XC Update - email sent 18:00 on 15th March to waiting list race entrants

Hi Everyone
I thought I had better give you an update on the latest situation.
We have applied for a licence and I was hoping that we would have had it granted today. However, England Athletics and RunBritain are both waiting until consultation with Sport England/DCMS provides updated guidance (expected week commencing 22nd March) before granting new licences.
I see no reason at this stage why we will not get a licence, but I don't want to turn your waiting list entries into real paid for ones until we actually have the licence. No licence, no insurance, no race!
At this stage we only have 50 entries overall, which is disappointing. I am not sure if people are not keen, thinking it is too soon, or if they are waiting until the entries are fully opened, or are confused by the message on the entry site saying the races are full. Marking them as full is the only way that I can open the waiting list.
If you have friends who might be interested, please encourage them to enter, ignoring the race full message.
We are fully committed to going ahead, providing we get the licence regardless of entry numbers.
If we get less than 100 entries, we will combine everyone into a single race with U13s finishing after 1 lap. More than 100, we will look at other options e.g. one female race and one male race. The rational will remain to limit the numbers on site and to condense the timetable, which is currently extended to allow runners from an earlier race to leave the venue before others arrive.
Look out for another update and/or a request for payment next week.

2021 Race Update - email sent 13:30 on 4th March to existing race entrants

2021 Update (4th March)

We reluctantly took the decision to cancel all our races for 2021 up to and including the Autumn 5k in September. This was mainly due to the uncertainties presented by Covid and difficulties in finding suitable dates, as we had to keep pushing back the start of our racing year. Also, we feel that the safety of runners and the general public would be compromised: as a by-product of the Covid situation many more people are walking their dogs and kids (including pushchairs) on our usual courses either on the “pink path” or in Locke Park – the resulting congestion increases the risk of collisions and conflicts.

This also includes the new Zetland half/full Marathon due to be held on 18th April 2021 – the new date for this is Sunday 5th June 2022.

Those people that have entries for these races including those deferred from last year, will automatically have their entries deferred to 2022, with the option a refund if should they request one.

This leaves the calendar clear to have different races at different venues as the easing of Covid restriction allow.

The first such opportunity will be on Good Friday, 2nd April – we will be staging a 5km event at Redcar Rugby Club in line with England Athletics stage 1 on the road map.

For further details and entry click here. Entries are being taken on a waiting list basis until such time as we are 100% certain of going ahead.

Note: General information updates that are emailed to all entrants will also be posted here

We are also planning to organise the Fox Rush 3km Time Trial on Friday 7th May, 7pm as a one off event, originally scheduled as a series back in October 2020.

For further details and entry click here. Entries are being taken on a waiting list basis until such time as we are 100% certain of going ahead.

Again, those people that have entries for these races including those deferred from last year, who are unable to make the new date, can request that their entry to be deferred to 2022 or refunded.

Also due to redevelopment work in the Majuba Road area, the start and finish will need to be relocated, although the basic half marathon course will be the planned 2 laps of the out & back Majuba Road to Marske Coast Road, and the shorter races fitting inside this footprint. Further details to follow.

Finally we are very hopeful that we will be able to stage a 2 lap 5 mile race on Sunday 25th July - check back for further updates.
